Eagles get Homecoming victory on strength of Perkins’s 128 rushing yards

The football team stayed unbeaten and celebrated Homecoming last Friday with a 17-10 win over Northview. Charles Perkins rushed for 128 yards and quarterback Michael Box threw two touchdown passes. The Eagles travel to North Forsyth this Friday. … The softball team lost to Mill Creek 4-1 last Wednesday, Parkview 1-0 Thursday and Whitewater 3-2 on Friday in the Brookwood Invitational. However, the Eagles won their division in the Invitational by defeating Central Gwinnett, Providence Christian and Ringgold on Saturday. Kayla Floor was the starter and winning pitcher against Providence, and picked up a win as a reliever against Ringgold. Christina Parham shined at the plate, going 3-for-4 against both Providence and Ringgold. The Eagles play Brookwood this Wednesday at 5:55 p.m. … The volleyball team defeated Central Gwinnett last Thursday. The team plays in the Gwinnett Tournament beginning this Thursday. … The boys cross country team finished second in the Gwinnett County Championship meet last Saturday. Carlos Galindo led the Eagles with a time of 16:35. The girls cross country team finished first in the Gwinnett County Championship meet last Saturday. Amanda Winslow led the team with a time of 18:48.
