Raiders look for first win fresh off bye week

Coming off of a bye week, the football team will look to get its first win of the season when they take on Union Grove on Friday night at Panthersville Stadium. Redan sits at 0-2-1 for the season, while Union Grove comes into the game at a perfect 3-0. The game marks the first Region 2-AAAAA game for both Redan and Union Grove, however, so the winner will have a leg up in the standings. Also, it will be the third meeting between the two teams as Redan won 18-14 a year ago, but Union Grove defeated the Raiders 24-7 in 2006. … At their Week 3 DeKalb County meet, the girls cross country team place second behind Druid Hills in Race 2. Redan was led by Soyong Smith who finished third with a time of 22:28.72. Also, Kennisha Holden finished sixth and Ashley Averette finished seventh. Decoshia Boswell, Tanisha Dyess and Erin Oliver placed 11th, 12th and 13th, respectively. … Malcolm Smith led the way for the boys team. Smith finished 20th with a time of 21:32.16.
