The Bulldogs opened up the brand-new and renovated Decatur High School Stadium last Friday, but were unable to get a victory in the opening game, suffering a 35-15 loss to the Hillgrove Hawks of Class 4A. Trumon Jefferson and the offense struggled in the defeat. The Bulldogs have now lost three straight and sit at 1-3 on the year. They will try to get their second win at home on Friday, but it won’t be easy with No. 1 Buford rolling into town. … The softball team had the week off after beating Avondale 21-0 on Sept. 16 behind a perfect game from Madison Lewis. The team hosts Druid Hills on Wednesday before traveling to Lovett on Thursday to close out the regular season. … Volleyball continued to show improvement with wins over Lakeside and Avondale on Thursday. The Lady Bulldogs lost to Greater Atlanta Christian in a tournament match on Saturday, then followed it up with wins against Buford and Providence Christian. They aren’t in action again until they make the trip to Lakeside-DeKalb for a rematch with the Vikings on Oct. 2.
