Cats defeat No. 6 Cartersville, prepare for GAC

The No. 7-ranked Wildcats dominated Class 3A’s No. 6-ranked team 48-21 on Friday night in Cartersville. Westminster improved its record to 3-0 with an impressive win on the road over a talented Purple Hurricane squad. The team will now enter region play, as its final seven games are against Region 6-AA competition. Westminster travels to Greater Atlanta Christian (0-3) Friday night for both teams’ region debut. The two teams have not met since a 16-10 GAC victory in 2005. The Wildcats are looking to start a season 4-0 for the first time since 2004. … The top-ranked volleyball squad improved its record to 20-1 this past week with victories over Lassiter and McIntosh. The Lady Wildcats will host Landmark Christian and Milton on Thursday before traveling to Whitefield Academy on Tuesday to face the home-standing Wolfpack as well as North Cobb Christian. … The boys and girls cross country teams each won their respective home meets on Sept. 16. The teams participating in the meet were GAC, Holy Innocents, Lovett, and Wesleyan.
