Football gets shut out in rivalry game; volleyball falls to end win streak

The football team was looking to get its first win of the year when the Wildcats faced archrival Walton on Friday. Unfortunately, they fell to the Raiders 35-0. Wheeler fumbled the ball eight times, three of which were recovered by the Raiders. Rashad Stewart led the Wildcats with 44 rushing yards and Chris Allen went 14-for-22 with 150 yards through the air. With the loss, the team fell to 0-4 on the year. The Wildcats will play at Lassiter on Friday. Wheeler has lost the last two games against the Trojans after last winning in 2005. … The softball team fell to Lassiter last week by a score of 11-2. With the loss, the Lady Wildcats have lost five region games in seven attempts. The team will travel to Pope in the final region game of the year on Thursday. … The volleyball team lost to Campbell last Tuesday 2-0. Before the loss, the Lady Wildcats had won five in a row. The team rebounded by defeating Hiram on Thursday. Wheeler plays in the Cobb County Tournament on Thursday at Kell.
