Most teams across the state are now in region play and playoff bids, region titles and bragging rights are all on the line. In just such a matchup, visiting Kell dominated east Cobb rival Pope 33-7 in a Region 5N-AAAA clash. The Longhorns took a 30-0 lead into the half and coasted from there. The Greyhounds were held to just 140 total yards including 30 yards passing.
Kell wide receiver Brandon Langley ran for a 78-yard touchdown on the second play of the game and scored again on a 30-yard run in the second quarter. Langley also had a 60-yard reception from quarterback Clay Dodson that set up another touchdown.
Fellowship Christian 21, Pinecrest Academy 14: In a battle of Paladins, the hosts took a commanding 14-0 lead into the half and held on. Quarterback Blais Furse threw for a 25-yard score and ran for a three-yard touchdown. Tyler Hart led Fellowship Christian with 108 yards rushing.
Etowah 21, Cherokee 7: The visiting Eagles went ahead by two touchdowns after sophomore John Oliver scored on a one-yard quarterback sneak. The Warriors only touchdown came on a six-play drive culminating in a two-yard touchdown run by Kyle Acevedo.
South Paulding 10, Lithia Springs 0: Running back Jae Bowen’s 15-yard touchdown run in the third quarter capped the scoring after visiting South Paulding’s first quarter field goal accounted for the only points of the first half.
St. Pius 45, Riverwood 6: St. Pius saw five different players run for touchdowns as it produced 287 rushing yards. Geno Smith had three carries for 96 yards and two scores while adding an interception for the visiting Golden Lions. Trey White tacked a 48-yard touchdown scamper.
Lovett 28, Jackson-Atlanta 13: Grant Haley ran for three touchdowns and 156 yards for the visiting Lions, while John Jameson added a 21-yard rushing score for Lovett. Mario McClain had two touchdowns runs for Jackson.
Wesleyan 44, Pace Academy 21: The Wolves jumped out to a 37-14 halftime lead behind a strong air attack. Quarterback Will Anderson finished 16-for-24 for 317 yards and five touchdowns. Rodney Morris had eight catches for 220 yards and three touchdowns while Eric Sunderman caught two touchdowns.
Blessed Trinity 21, Westminster 14: Three players helped the Titans to a victory over Westminster. Running back Jordan Denson scored on the ground, quarterback Spencer McManes also rushed for a score and threw a touchdown strike to tight end Thomas McCormick.
Stephenson 35, Luella 14: Mike Davis scored three touchdowns on the ground, including runs of three, 37 and 35 yards, to lead the host Jaguars. Pernell Whitehead and T.J. Moon also found the endzone for Stephenson, which raced to a 28-0 lead.
Northview 39, North Forsyth 13. Quarterback Evan Jacks threw for two touchdowns and 259 yards in the Titans road victory. Jacks also ran for 96 yards and a score. Terrence Upshaw added two touchdowns on the ground for Northview.
Wheeler 3, Woodstock 0: Wheeler’s only points came on a 38-yard field goal by J.D. Baron in the third quarter. The visiting Wildcats forced the Wolverines to commit eight turnovers for their third win in four games.
Carrollton 10, Troup 9: No. 4 Carrollton held off a third quarter scare by defeating host Troup on a missed PAT. The Trojans only managed 237 yards of total offense with Telvin Brown rushing for 99 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries.
Buford 59, Decatur 13: Defense and special teams ruled for the home Wolves who led 52-0 at halftime and allowed one yard rushing at the break. Thomas Wilson returned a punt for a touchdown and C.J. Moore ran a fumble for a score. Rick LeGrant rushed twice for two touchdowns.
Hillgrove 21, Harrison 14: The host Hawks Kenyon Drake leading the way by scoring on a reception and rush. Kelvin Cameron’s one reception resulted in a touchdown. Collen McCrite and Zack Moore scored for the Hoyas, but it wasn’t enough to win.
Hebron Charter 31, Baconton Charter 7: The visiting Lions forced five turnovers and led at halftime 17-0 in the win. Matthew Glisson had a receiving touchdown and an interception return for a score. Jay Wallow recorded 13 tackles and two interceptions on a defensive night for Hebron.
North Paulding 34, Hiram 18: Sophomore Matt Mixon caught a 15-yard touchdown and intercepted a pass on defense for the visiting Wolfpack. Junior quarterback Tyler Clure hit senior receiver Joel Brooks on an 80-yard touchdown pass to break the game open.
Rome 21, Creekview 14: The host Wolves hung on to defeat Creekview by scoring in the game’s final five minutes to take the lead for good. Fullback Jamie Cooper had scores of 39 and 65 yards in the first quarter and scored the eventual winning touchdown on another 39-yard run.
Lambert 41, Forsyth Central 7: Tight end Chris Laye caught a 15-yard touchdown pass to open the scoring for the host Longhorns. Running back Daniel Myers ran for 82 yards and a touchdown in the first half. Reid Gill added a 13-yard touchdown run for Lambert.
Columbia 21, Stone Mountain 7: Jabari Menefee threw for 90 yards and two touchdowns as visiting Columbia raced to a 21-0 halftime lead. Keithon Redding and Miles Woodberry hauled in the scoring strikes while Kenno Loyal added 85 rushing yards and a touchdown for the Eagles.
Pebblebrook 21, Kennesaw Mountain 14: The host Falcons held on to a 14-0 halftime lead to defeat the visiting Mustangs. Quarterback C.J. Goodman ran for two touchdowns and threw a touchdown to receiver Justin Sims. Sertonuse Harris ran for 150 of the Falcons’ 278 total yards.
Parkview 41, Berkmar 3: The host Panthers remained perfect in region play by holding the Patriots to 97 total yards of offense. Chris Carson ran for 132 yards and three touchdowns while the offense recorded 342 total yards. Keanu Mole returned an interception 40 yards for a score.
Chattahoochee 19, Johns Creek 16 (OT): Running back Chase Nelson scored on a three-yard touchdown run in overtime to win the game for the host Cougars. The Gladiators were held to a field goal in their overtime possession.
Griffin 30, Woodland-Henry 6: The host Bears outscored Woodland-Henry 16-0 in the second half. Running back Eddrick Johnson ran for two touchdowns and threw for another, while Orenthian Parks and Moses Mays hooked up on a another touchdown pass.
