Raiders win second straight on strength of 24 unanswered points

The football team entered last Friday night looking to build on a 17-14 win over Johnson-Gainesville on Sept. 5. The Raiders, trying to win back-to-back games for the first time in three years, returned home to host the Duluth Wildcats. Not only did Raiders win the game, but they did it in convincing fashion, holding their opponents off the scoreboard until the fourth quarter. The Raiders scored 24 unanswered points including two touchdowns from Jory Walsh and one from Tyler Slaton before the Wildcats ended the shutout in the final minutes of the game. The Raiders improved to 2-1 with the 24-8 win and now turn their attention to their next game Friday night against the 2-1 Peachtree Ridge Lions. … The volleyball team beat Roswell (25-22, 21-25, 26-24), but lost to Northview (25-13, 25-9) on Sept. 9. At the Collins Hill Invitational, the Raiders started 0-2 with losses to Hart County and Kell. The team will look to improve its play next Saturday at the Forsyth County Playday. They will face Forsyth Central, South Forsyth and the hosts West Forsyth in a clinic environment.
