Wolverines burned by Indians rally, lose 17-13

The football team was back in action on Friday, as it took on the McEachern Indians after having two weeks to prepare. The Wolverines were able to get on the board first with Jonathan Wiener kicking two field goals in the first quarter to go up by six. They were able to add to their lead in the second quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run by Taylor Trotter. McEachern came alive in the second half, however, as the Indians’ Raajan Bennett and Daniel King each scored rushing touchdowns. That proved to be just enough, as the Indians defeated the Wolverines 17-13. Trotter had a solid night with 149 yards passing and 29 yards rushing. The Wolverines will look to get their first win of the season on Friday when they face Marietta. … The softball team defeated South Cobb 5-1. It was the first region win of the year for the Wolverines, who will take on Alpharetta on Wednesday. … The volleyball team defeated McEachern 2-0 last week and will face Etowah and Wheeler on Sept. 30.
