Eagles get another stellar game from Boykin in 21-12 win

The football team was in for a challenge last Friday against Kennesaw Mountain, who came in with a two-game winning streak. The defense for the Mustangs came up big in the second quarter as Devon Jones picked off a James Harris pass and returned it 65 yards for a touchdown to put the first set of points on the board. The Eagles fired back in the third quarter with a Ryan Boykin 73-yard touchdown run. Etowah struck again in the fourth quarter with a Joey Gilkey 8-yard touchdown run that iced the game for the Eagles as they won 21-12. Boykin had a strong night with 156 yards on 12 carries and one touchdown. He will look to better that number as the Eagles take on Cherokee on Friday. … The softball team lost to Kennesaw Mountain on Thursday 3-2. The Eagles were up by two runs in the seventh but the Mustangs rallied to score three runs. The Eagles will face Walton on Wednesday. … The volleyball team will take on Sequoyah on Thursday.
