Bulldogs open new ‘doghouse’ with game against Hillgrove

The football team was off last week, only increasing the anticipation for this week’s matchup with Hillgrove of Class 4A. The game will be the first ever played in Decatur ’s newly renovated stadium, which took nearly two years to construct. With a victory, head coach Price Jones’s team will move to 2-1 on the year. One key to victory for the Bulldogs will be the play of quarterback Trumon Jefferson, who has struggled throwing the football this season. If he can manage the game well and avoid turning the football over, the Bulldogs stand a good chance of getting above .500 for the first time since 2005, when they started the season 5-0. … An undefeated season came to an end for the softball team, as they dropped back-to-back games last week. The Lady Bulldogs suffered their first defeat of the year to Blessed Trinity, 3-0. The girls then suffered their second defeat at the hands of Greater Atlanta Christian last Friday, losing 10-2. … The volleyball team lost a close match to Holy Innocents’ on Thursday, 25-23, 25-23. The team responded positively, however, beating Creekview 25-13, 25-13.
