Perkins shows flare for dramatic in 20-16 Eagles win

Running back Charles Perkins helped the football team kick off region play in dramatic fashion with a late fourth-quarter score to give the Eagles a 20-16 win over Chattahoochee . Perkins ran for a 2-yard score with 2:35 remaining to put the Eagles up for good. Perkins finished with 174 yards and three touchdowns. The Eagles (3-0) host Northview this Friday. … Despite a solid pitching performance by Lauren Reader, the softball team fell to Northview 1-0 last Thursday. Reader pitched a complete game, giving up six hits, allowing one unearned run and striking out four. The Eagles play Wesleyan this Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. … The volleyball team defeated Providence at the Collins Hill Classic last Thursday. They play Central Gwinnett and Alpharetta this Thursday beginning at 5 p.m. … The girls cross country team finished first in the girls championship at the Carrollton Invitational last Saturday. Five of the top six finishers were Eagles, including the top overall runner Amanda Winslow with a time of 18:48 . The boys cross country team finished third for the boys group. Carlos Galindo led the Eagles with a time of 16:35 .
