The biggest spectacle in sports entertainment is only two months away and for the first time ever, it will be held right here in Atlanta. The 27th installment of WrestleMania is the first to be held in Georgia and when an event like this comes to your city, you should go because there’s no guarantee when or if it will come back.
Tickets for WrestleMania have been on sale for a few months, so if you missed out on tickets or just couldn’t afford them, there is no need to panic. To meet the demand for the volume of fans who want to be a part of WrestleMania’s festivities, the WWE has created WrestleMania Axxess. This event offers fans a once in a lifetime opportunity for one-on-one interaction with the WWE Superstars and Divas. WrestleMania Axxess begins on Thursday, March 31 through Sunday, April 3 at the Georgia World Congress Center, Building C.
Throughout the four days there will be Superstars from both brands, RAW and Smackdown, Divas, as well as superstars from the past. This gives fans of all ages a chance to see the heroes that they grew up watching. In an interview with Sgt. Slaughter, he talked about how special it is for a retired wrestler to see fans that grew up cheering, or booing, him.
“You get to meet fans close up and put a cobra clutch on them or a headlock,” said Slaughter. “I get to talk to them about matches that I’ve had, they’ll bring their memorabilia, things that I have forgotten about. We start talking about matches I have forgotten about, it’s more of a fun day for me than it is for the WWE fans.”
Not only is this special for the people who have been in the business for decades, but even the newer members of the WWE realize how special of an opportunity this is to be with the fans that watch them every week.
This will be the Bella Twins’ third WrestleMania Axxess and they talked about how much it meant to them to spend time with the fans. “We’re all having fun. You’re in an environment that’s fun instead of us trying to promote something or us doing media, we’re just all having fun. The fans are there to have fun, the Superstars and Divas are there to have fun and we’re a few days away from our biggest event.”
One interesting side of WrestleMania Axxess that the Bella Twins pointed out is that fans from all over the world are coming together and finding a common bond – wrestling. “You could have someone from Atlanta, Georgia who meets someone who’s from Australia and realize that what they have in common is WWE, and it’s cool to meet fans from all over the world who share this one interest.”
Whether it is someone like Brie or Nikki Bella who have only been in the business for a few years, or Sgt. Slaughter who has been involved with the business for decades, it’s easy to see that they too get excited for an event like WrestleMania Axxess. However, there is something special about seeing how much an event like this means to Sgt. Slaughter, a person that has dedicated most of his life to the sport of wrestling. “What makes it fun for me also is the fans that grew up watching me as a wrestler are now adults. They’re a parent or uncle or aunt. Heck, some of them are grandparents and they bring their siblings to meet their hero and I get to meet a whole new fan base.”
It’s easy to see how the relationships that are forged across this sport are lifelong relationships. WrestleMania Axxess can be the chance you and your kids are looking for to attach memories to the faces you watch each and every week.
