Vikings shut out by Region 6 favorites

After getting blown out by a Columbia team that many pundits saw as an average squad, Jeff Joiner’s football team faced a stiff test against an always-strong Tucker squad who is the favorite to win Region 6-AAAA. The talented Tigers didn’t let up, jumping out to a quick 14-0 lead and never looking back en route to a 50-0 win. Tucker led 44-0 in the third before emptying their bench. The Vikings now sit at 0-2 after losing their first two games by a combined score of 127-7. A great opportunity to snag a victory comes this week when the Vikings host 1-1 North Springs. … Boys cross country finished 29th in the 4A/5A classification at the Berry Invitational. Charlie Clark paced the Vikings, finishing with a time of 18:17. The girls also competed, finishing 21st overall, with Meg Maciuba leading the way with a time of 21:30. … The volleyball team dropped a pair of straight-set losses to Class 5A opponents Chattahoochee and Kell last week. They face North Springs and Tucker at home on Tuesday.
