Jefferson and Jefferson build offensive stats, but Bulldogs fall

A win in the opener against Druid Hills was no surprise, but the football team nearly shocked everyone at Henry County in Week 2 before falling 16-7. The Bulldogs led 7-6 at the half after a Rakim Jefferson 2-yard run with just three seconds to play in the half. It could have been more, but Bulldogs quarterback Trumon Jefferson threw a pick with the ball on the Warhawk 3-yard line during an 18-play drive in the second quarter. The favorites snatched the lead back on a field goal late in the third, and then put the game away, scoring a touchdown to go up 16-7 after Jefferson threw another interception. It was a frustrating loss for Decatur, as they compiled 355 yards of total offense and scored just seven points. Despite the loss, the Bulldogs have looked much improved under new head coach Price Jones. They have a bye week before returning to the gridiron to face Hillgrove on Sept. 19… The softball team is still undefeated after upsetting Westminster, 6-3 last week. They are 8-0 on the season.
